Located in what was once Toronto’s first women’s prison,
the Rain Restaurant in Toronto has transformed the concrete space into a
combination of 15 foot waterfalls, backlit frosted glass and bamboo
dividers. It also gained
notoriety for employing a bouncer at the door, and rumor has it that the
bouncer would determine who’s good enough to get in, regardless of
reservations. The bouncer,
though, is no longer there. The
seductive décor at Rain Restaurant in Toronto evokes strong emotion and you
will either love it or hate it. The Rain Restaurant in Toronto is headed by Michael and Guy
Rubino. Guy is the executive
chef and treats each dish as a new opportunity to create an enticing Asian
masterpiece. There are two
options when dining. The first
is the chef’s tasting menu, which a six-course meal is made to order per
the tastes of the ordering table. There
is also the option of a la carte where a table can pick from a selection of
mains and sides. The menu features a sleek combination of original seafood and
meat dishes as part of Asian cuisine. Appetizers
and entrees are served together and the price for each combination is a good
indication of their relative size. A
few of the standouts are the five-spice Peking duck roll and miso black cod
atop tatsoi greens. The food at
the Rain Restaurant in Toronto is served on dishes composed of slate slabs,
river rocks and Japanese pottery. The Rain Restaurant in Toronto is the ideal place to meet for
cocktails. The atmosphere
encourages guests to shed the tension of the outside world and to relax.
The fully stocked bar offers the finest selection of vodka and gin as
well as a wide selection of exotic fruit cocktails.
Wine selections are available by the glass or by the bottle.
Even if meeting for cocktails, it is a great place to bring a group. Private parties are available with reservations and the event
coordinator will be able to help you plan your night. |
